THOMAS HARLAN FOUNDER OF HARLAN RANCH
THE AMIS HOUSE DESIGNED BY THOMAS HARLAN
David Kiker, a self-made visionary businessman from Houston Texas has spent the last 15 years acquiring and reconnecting parcels of land, recombining part of the Harlan Ranch. The property is now known as the 515-acre Kiker Star Ranch, home to lush cattle pastures and rolling mountains and abundant wildlife.
A lifelong fan of NHRA drag racing, David was drawn to Northeast Tennessee in part by the excitement of the Bristol Dragway, where the roar of engines and the spirit of competition matched his own drive and determination. What began as a love of the area's racing culture grew into a deeper appreciation for its land and lifestyle-ultimately inspiring the creation of Kiker Star Ranch, where he and his wife Dr. Layne Kiker reside today.
David has a background in exotic game ranch management including high scoring whitetail, blackbuck, elk, fallow and oryx. David married Dr. Layne Spitzenberger, the owner of Circle Lake Ranch and Circle Lake Ranch Pet Resort in Katy Texas, in 2023. Together they have founded Kiker Star Ranch BEEF.

AMIS MILL DAM
DESIGNED BY THOMAS HARLAN
The Amis Mill Dam is 174-feet long. In relatively good condition although it is more than two centuries old. Many go to the beautiful site for photography and to enjoy the Amis Mill Restaurant.
Kiker Star Ranch sits on the historic 230 year-old homeplace of the Harlan Ranch in Rogersville, Tennessee. The ranch was founded by the esteemed architect Thomas Harlan in the 1700's where Main Street dead ends into Highway 11 West today.

To this day, Harlan rests with us at Kiker Star Ranch on the very land where his work still speaks for him-his stone, his vision and his legacy woven forever into his ranch and the history of Rogersville Tennessee and the Holston River Valley.
GRAVESITE OF THOMAS HARLAN
Historians and admirers alike have long been drawn to this home - not only for its architectural beauty and durability but also for what it reveals about the brilliance of its builder. More than two centuries later, the house still testifies to Harlan's unmatched skill. Indeed, Thomas Harlan was more than a craftsman - he was a founder of one of the first Revolutionary War era ranches in the United States, a man whose mastery of stone and design left an indelible legacy.
